Stewart Reid Entertainment - Booking Wedding Bands in Scotland!

Its been over 8 years since I became a full time singer in my own Scottish Wedding Band & Robbie Williams Tribute Act and I can say, hand on heart, that i've loved every minute of it!

I've met some weird & wonderful people along the way...

The Elvis cleaning company - one of the funniest and most unique acts i've ever seen!

A Pneumatic Horse - (corporate entertainment at Glasgow Hilton) Don't have a link to this but it is real, honest!

Mr Drew McAdam AKA The Interrogator on Ch5's The Trisha Show - both weird & wonderful, spood bending, mind reading, brilliant!

I thought I would share some of my experience with those of you lucky enought to be getting married.  Althought I can't control the weather,(try Drew McAdam on that one) I can offer some guidance on choosing the right Wedding Band or Tribute Act for your big day.

First, have a think about what type of entertainment you're looking for i.e. Fully Live Scottish Wedding Band, 2 or 3 piece wedding bands Scotland or maybe a mobile DJ.

You're choice could be limited due to stage size in your venue, or your budget? A general rule of thumb is the more people in the band, the more expensive they will be.

So set a budget, but be a little flexible if you see the band you definetely want... why compromise on one of the biggest nights of your life?

Make up a short-list of up to 4 bands maximum, any more and things will get a little confusing.  Check and compare each band's reputation, most will have comments from previous clients i.e. Wedding Band testimonials.

Have an idea of some of the songs you want the band to play, bearing in mind the varying age group of your guests.  A wedding band with a large set-list should be able to perform songs from the swing era, 60's rock & roll, 70's disco, 80's & 90's classics to up to date chart hits.  Some covers bands also provide a selection of cielidh songs on request.

The most important thing you can do when looking for a Wedding Band Scotland is to arrange to see each wedding band performing live.   Most wedding band demo's will be decent quality, as recording equipment is cheaper than ever to buy.  The big test is whether they can sound just as good, if not better live!

We regularly organise a Wedding Band Showcase, where you can watch several top Scottish Wedding Bands performing live.  Please check our website http://www.weddingandtributebands.co.uk for details.  Oh, and please make sure the bands you are interested in are available for your date before going! You dont want a wasted trip.

And finally, when you've seen the band you want, pay a deposit asap to secure your date & make sure you get a contract or receipt from the band or agent.  The best wedding bands are usually booked between 1 year & 18 months in advance for peak wedding season.

Hope this helps to make your special day a night to remember!
Stewart Reid
